Oliver defeats Carrera to win USBA junior featherweight title (AP)
Fourth-ranked Mike Oliver used superior hand speed to unanimously outpoint No. 3 Adam Carrera Saturday night for the United States Boxing Association's vacant junior featherweight title. Oliver, of Hartford, Conn., improved to 17-0 while Carrera, of Cathedral City, Calif., fell to 18-2. The fight was scored 120-108, 118-110 and 116-112 for Oliver.

Spadafora to make comeback after jail time (AP)
Former IBF lightweight champion Paul Spadafora, on parole for shooting his fiancee, plans to return to the ring next month after a two-year layoff. An opponent has not been announced, but the fight will be the main event of the 22nd Erie Boxing Classic on Nov. 22, said Spadafora's promoter Michael Acri.
